Three years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began

Today, the 24th of February marks three years of Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is in Kyiv demonstrating Sweden’s steadfast support for Ukraine.

In Stockholm, hundreds of people gathered at Norrmalmstorg, like every Monday since the beginning of the invasion, to show their unyielding support for Ukraine. Among the speakers were Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Lotta Edholm, Minister for Schools, as well as representatives from civil society organisations and academia.

During the day several events are held in Stockholm marking the nations deep support and gratitude for the Ukrainian people in their fight for their freedom.

“Russia thought that they would defeat Ukraine in three days, but for three years the Ukrainians have shown resistance, courage, sacrifice and dedication. Sweden is one of the largest contributors of military, political and financial support. The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation is an important actor that plays a crucial role for our partners and sister parties. This work is now more important than ever.”
